Abbeville police respond to crash involving stolen car

Unresponsive teen taken to hospital, two others sought

On Tuesday, July 14, at 12:52 p.m., officers of the Abbeville Police Department responded to La Hwy. 338 in reference to a single-vehicle crash.
Upon officers’ arrival, a 15-year-old juvenile was found to be unresponsive. The juvenile was transported to Abbeville General Hospital where he was then transported to Lafayette General Hospital.
As of press time, the juvenile was listed in critical condition.
Officers found that the vehicle in the crash was reported stolen on July 10, 2015 in Abbeville.
Officers spoke to witnesses at the crash scene that indicated that there were two other individuals inside the vehicle, at the time of the crash, who fled from the scene on foot carrying a red bag.
Officers were unable to locate the two subjects who fled the scene.

The crash is still under investigation by the Abbeville Police Department.
