Abbeville police make arrests after hearing gun fire

This past Friday, at approximately 10:59 p.m., officers with the Abbeville Police Department responded to the intersection of E. Oak St. and Hayes St. in reference to a complaint of shots fired.
The first arriving officer, observed two male subjects standing on the side of the road at the intersection of E. Oak St. and Hayes St. When the subjects observed police, they began running.
The subjects were located, hiding at an abandoned residence. Narcotics were also located where the subjects were hiding.
Arrested was Wesley J. Laviolette, 35, of Abbeville. Laviolette was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (Cocaine) and Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (Crystal Meth).
Also arrested was Stephen J. Walker, 22, of Abbeville. Walker was charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (Cocaine) and Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule II Controlled Dangerous Substance (Crystal Meth).
Walker had a detainer placed on him by Probation and Parole.
Both Laviolette and Walker were booked into the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center where they await bond.
