Abbeville Police arrest woman who allegedly stabs boyfriend after breaking into his house

An Abbeville woman faces multiple charges in connection to a dispute that occurred during the early morning of June 25.
Abbeville Police arrested Jerri Livings, 27, on Attempted 2nd-Degree Murder and Home Invasion.
Officers responded around 1:48 a.m. to a call of shots fired near Martin Luther King Jr. Drive and Dutel Street.
“Officers quickly arrived and saw a vehicle leaving the area,” Abbeville Police Department Lt. David Hardy said. “They made a traffic stop on that vehicle.”
The vehicle, being driven by Livings, had bullet holes on the passengers side. Police then questioned Livings.
“They asked her what took place,” Hardy said. “She told them that she did not know.
“It was right around that time that (the officers) got a call from Abbeville General that a person was there being treated for stab wounds, a person known to be the boyfriend of (Livings).”
Police detained Livings and brought her to the Abbeville Police Department for further questioning.
“She stated that she went to the (boyfriend’s) house and kicked in the door,” Hardy said. “She got into an argument with him. She went back to her vehicle and armed herself with a knife that she brought with her. She got into another argument with him and he sustained stab wounds to the chest area.
“He was taken to Abbeville General for medical treatment.”
The subject has since been released from Abbeville General.
Police booked Livings on Attempted 2nd-Degree Murder and Home Invasion. Livings remained in the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center as of Monday afternoon. A Gwen’s Law hearing was scheduled for Livings Monday afternoon. The law requires the court to conduct a hearing to assess whether bail should be granted to someone involved in a domestic dispute.
As to how the gun shots ended up hitting Livings’ vehicle, Hardy said that issue remains under investigation.
“She said she doesn’t know who fired them,” Hardy said. “She didn’t see.”
