Abbeville Police arrest man on multiple gun, drug charges
On the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 16 at approximately 6 p.m., the Abbeville Police Department responded to Live Oak Manor Apartments which is located on the 1600 block of Martin Luther King Drive for the complaint of an aggravated assault with a firearm.
Upon arrival, officers spoke to the complainant but could not locate the suspect in the area.
On the afternoon of Wednesday, Sept. 17 at approximately 12:30 p.m., officers received information that there had just been a fight in the area of Live Oak Manor and the same subject pulled a gun on another person.
The two complainants came into the police department and gave statements to what had happened. The second complainant advised that the subject who jumped him and pulled the gun on him left the area in a truck.
Abbeville Police Department officers obtained warrants for the suspect, Heikeem Hebert, for two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm. The officers then located the suspect and his truck at a local school, the suspect’s place of employment. Hebert was placed under arrest and a search warrant was obtained for the truck, based on the facts given to them by the complainants. During the execution of the search warrant, the officers found a firearm and narcotics hidden inside the vehicle.
Heikeem Hebert was booked on the following charges: 2 Counts of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm, Possession of a Stolen Firearm, Possession of a Firearm with CDS, Possession of a Firearm on School Property, Possession of a Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Marijuana within a School Zone.
Hebert was transported to Vermilion Parish Correctional Center where he awaits bond.
