Abbeville man gets stolen fiddle back

Robert Martin is an excited young man today because he got his fiddle back.
Martin returned home after completing a seven-day offshore hitch and noticed all his belongings were stolen out of his home on South Jefferson Street in Abbeville.
While electronic things were stolen from his home back in April, the one big thing stolen that upset him the most was his fiddle.
The thief walked out of the house with his electronics and his new fiddle he was trying to learn how to play.
Two months later, Lt. David Hardy of the Abbeville Police Department called and let him know the police have his fiddle at the police station.
Last week when the police arrested Trent Phillips, they searched a home he was living at and located what looked to be stolen items. One of the items was a fiddle.
The Meridional ran a picture of the fiddle and a friend of Martin’s recognized the fiddle as being his. He contacted the Abbeville Police Department last week and on Monday, he went and picked up the unharmed fiddle.
Martin, who is originally from New Hampshire, said he was thrilled to have his fiddle back.
The Abbeville police still have electronic radio equipment, cell phones and jewelry that were recovered in the home Trent Phillips was living in.
