MOUTON COVE — That 7th Ward Elementary is an “A” school, it should come as no surprise that the students are putting in the work.
Shining bright among the hard-working students is Logan Milton, the Vermilion Parish Elementary Student of the Year.
“It feels really good,” Milton said happily. “I was kind of surprised when I got it.”
Seventh Ward Principal Natalie Hebert was not.
“She is very outgoing and has a great, bubbly personality,” Hebert said. “She is a very conscientious student.
“She is a great, well-rounded student.”
With that said, Milton’s favorite subject is math.
“I like the problem solving part,” Milton said.
Milton has another passion in school.
“I like being on the yearbook committee,” she said. “I like to design stuff.”
Milton has designs on helping away from school. Through her church, Milton provides tutoring by reading to younger students.
“She is a fifth-grader and she is out there helping in her community,” Hebert said. “That is a wonderful thing.
“She is very mature and wants to do good things.”
That is certainly a reflection of the person to whom Milton looks up.
“My mother (Destiny Milton) is the biggest influence on me,” Milton said. “She is a single parent and I always want to try to make her proud.”
