4-wheeler accident claims the life of two in Vermilion Parish

According to Sheriff Mike Couvillon, a 4-wheeler accident claimed the life of two people, and a juvenile being hospitalized just after 1 a.m. this morning..

Couvillon said the 4-wheeler was traveling west on Clint Rd. (near Indian Bayou School) failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of La. Hwy. 35 and Clint Rd. The vehicle crashed into a ditch embankment, and all three passengers were ejected.

34-year-old Shawn Lalonde and 29-year-old Kyle Dudding were pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained from the crash. A third passenger, who is a juvenile, was transported to the hospital and is listed in stable condition.

Sheriff Couvillon says that evidence at the scene suggests Shawn Lalonde was the driver, and a slight incline in the roadway may have served as a ramp which enabled the 4-wheeler to become airborne before it crashed. Toxicology samples will be submitted to crime lab for analysis.
