‘Let’s Shine Vermilion’

The Vermilion Parish Chamber of Commerce, which has been around for 96 years, is taking a positive approach to the upcoming year by adopting the theme “Lets Shine Vermilion.”
The theme was introduced at Wednesday night’s Chamber of Commerce Installation Banquet. Wednesday at L’ Eglise.
New president Dr. Anita Carrere and the new officers were sworn in by Judge Laurie Hulin.
The president elect is Ross Comeaux.
Dr. Anita addressed the chamber members and what she expects in 2016.
“This year I want the Vermilion Parish chamber to assert itself as a center of leadership and as a developer of leaders by creating a dynamic forum for collaberative vision, sharing ideas and ideals,” Dr. Anita said. “With this I know Vermilion Parish will shine among our great state. I’ll ask our local and state elected officials to support us and keep us posted on the many   changes in Baton Rouge that will be impacting Vermilion.
“There is much to be done in Vermilion parish, but the chamber board can not do it alone,” said Dr. Anita.
Dr. Anita informed the chamber members that the chamber is updating its website, thanks to Abbeville General, who is funding the project.
A great new feature will allow chamber members access to their listing in the business directory and give them the ability to post more detailed information about their company, include photos, videos, job postings, and hot deals or specials, Dr. Anita said about the website.
FUEL Vermilion members were also on hand. Sen. Jonathan Perry was the keynote speaker.
Dr. Anita wants Vermilion to stay positive throughout the year.
“In closing, I look forward to working with my fellow board members and the general membership to create a positive business and community environment” in 2016! Together….Let’s shine Vermilion,” said Dr. Anita.
