Lege, Theriot exchange vows

Monica Beth Lege and Cordell James Theriot were joined in Holy Matrimony on Saturday January 4, 2014, at seven o’clock in the evening at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Henry, Louisiana. The Mass was officiated by Reverend David Broussard and co-officiated by Deacon Taj Glodd.  The readings were read by Charlotte Campbell, Brenda Schexneider, friends of the bride and Dianne Menard, cousin of the groom.  Music was provided by Lenwood Meaux, a special Communion song sung by Dustin Gaspard, son of the bride.  Extra Ordinary Ministers were Annie Mammon and Melicia Broussard, both friends of the bride.

The bride is the daughter of George Berton Lege and the late Margaret Bernard Lege, both of Mouton Cove, La. Betty Bernard, aunt of the bride, was an honored guest, sitting in for the bride’s mother. The groom is the son of Dorothy “Shine” Theriot and the late Elie J. Theriot, both of Henry, La.

Given by her children in marriage, and escorted by her son, the bride wore a champagne colored bridal satin gown, with a cowl neckline, empire waist, A-line skirt with three quarter length sleeves, embellished with vintage lace applicates’ and fresh water pearls.  Her dress was designed and made by a dear friend.  Her veil was a double tiered champagne teardrop tulle on a freshwater pearl beaded headband. She carried a hand tied  winter bouquet, made by her sister, Toni, of white silk roses, three white lilies, red berries, evergreens and pine. A blue Wedding Rosary, also made by her sister, entwined and dangled along with two mini antique frames of the bride and groom’s deceased children.

Family candles were lit by Toni Lege Esponge, sister of the bride, and Heidi Theriot Gremillion, niece of the groom.

Emily Margaret Gaspard, daughter of the bride, served as Maid of Honor. Bridesmaids were Caitlin Roy, Jenna David, Sidney Stelly and Maci Gaspard, all nieces of the bride.

They wore white crushed velvet cowl neckline floor length gowns with red crushed velvet boleros. Dresses were designed and made by the bride. The maid of honor carried a replica of her mother’s bouquet but with red roses.  Bridesmaids carried red rose kissing balls with berries and evergreen accents. Ava Clare Esponge, niece of the bride and Adelynn Grace Theriot, granddaughter of the groom served as flower girls.

The groom had three best men, Dylan Presley, grandson of the groom, and Jason & Justin Theriot, sons of the groom.

Jacob David, and Luke Gaspard, nephews of the bride,  served as ushers for the ceremony.

Gift bearers included Darrin and Toni Johnson, both mutual friends of the bride and groom, since they were the reason the couple met.

An outdoor reception followed the wedding at their new home in Henry.  A honeymoon is planned in May to a private destination and for the rest of their lives.
