Poche named Erath Middle’s Student of the Year

In December 2013, Erath Middle Principal Lynn Moss announced that Caroline Poche’ was named the school’s 2013-14 Student of the Year.

Poche’, an honor roll student, has been a member of the track team, a cheerleader and a Beta Club member the past two years. She was also in band and a top AR Reader in 5th, 6th and 7th grade.

The active teen is currently serving as the Erath Middle Jr. Beta President. She also served as the Vice President for her club during the 2012-2013 year.
In early 2013, she was elected as Jr. Beta President for the state of Louisiana and currently serving in that capacity. This past summer, she attended Broyhill Leadership Conference in Charlotte, NC. While at that conference, she was elected the Council President for Broyhill Leadership Council. Poche’ also attended State Officer Training the summer of 2013 and the Leadership Summit (in Lafayette, LA) the past two years.

The eighth grade daughter of Mark and Schuyler Poche’ Caroline attended National Beta conventions in both Dallas and North Carolina, during her older brother, Ryan Poche’s tenure as National Beta President a couple of years ago. While in North Carolina, the younger Poche’ who has been active in elocution contests both at Dozier Elementary and Erath Middle, was asked to introduce her older brother on stage at the National Convention.

She will be attending a Jr. Beta State convention in Tennessee for the Mardi Gras holiday as the La. Jr. Beta State President.

Poche’ has worked with Beta “Make a Difference Day” by helping with donations to Faith House, and she helped with the collection of canned goods and toy donations. She also participated in Gage’s Brigade (Muscular Dystrophy group). She has assisted her grandmother Leona Poche’ as a helper for Erath 4th of July Tea, and worked with “baskets for the needy” with her cheerleading group.

Some of her awards include: Honor Roll (Celebration of Excellence), Louisiana State Jr. Beta President, Jr. Beta District Day Speech 2nd Place in 2013 and Jr. Beta Campaign Speech 1st place (State competition) in 2013. Poche has also participated and placed in several elocution competitions at Dozier Elementary, Erath Middle, as well as at the parish level.
