Leroy Guilbeaux

Erath – A Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Leroy J. Guilbeaux, 88, was held on Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Paul Broussard officiating.

A native and resident of Erath, Mr. Guilbeaux passed away at 7:40 AM on Thursday, July 9, 2011 at Abbeville General Hospital.

Leroy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother, who enjoyed spending time with his family, loved children and was known for always giving them a dollar. Mr. Guilbeaux enjoyed raising and racing race horses, making cracklings, playing cards with his old buddies in town, and passing a good time with friends. Through the years, Mr. Guilbeaux had been employed by Texaco, Penrod, Pal Services, was a licensed plumber. Leroy was a member of Woodmen of the World, and had been Mr. Woodman in 1992.

He is survived by his wife Eva Credeur of Erath; his daughter, Lorie Sue Romero of Erath; grandchild Krislyn Romero of Erath, step-daughter Kim Credeur of Rayne; Step-grandchildren, Jordan Credeur and Tori Ann Credeur of Rayne; step-great grandchild, Kate Credeur of Rayne; two brothers, Lloyd “Bee” Guilbeaux and Dennis Guilbeaux of Abbeville; and four sisters, Eula Guilbeaux, Merdy Guilbeaux, and Adley White of Abbeville, and Maude Sellers of Erath.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ceasar and Annie Richard Guilbeaux; first wife, Lena Mae Loignon Guilbeaux; and brother, Weston Guilbeaux.

Serving as pallbearers were Kim Fredrick, Sam Fredrick, Andrew Champagne, Larry Vidallia, and Blair Sellers.
