Wildcats get much needed victory

The Abbeville Wildcats came into the game Friday night desperately seeking a win to right the ship before district play begins, and they got just that.

The Wildcats were able to defeat North Central by the final score of 51-40.

“We made a good run in the first half,” Head Coach Berwick Hamilton said. “Then in the second half they (North Central) made a little bit of a run, and we jsut had to endure. Once we were able to outlast the run they were making we got back to playing our
game, and we came out with the victory. At this point in time in the season a win is a win and they are all important.

Leading the way in scoring for the Wildcats was Desomnd Taylor.

Taylor scored a team and game high 16 points. 15 of his 16 points came in the second quarter. Also, nine of his 16 points came from the free throw line, where he made nine of the 12 shots he attempted.

On Taylor’s hills was Jordan Brooks who scored 11 points.
Clements Dorsey was not too far behind Brooks as he was able to put in nine points of his own.

Matthew Johnson was able to get in on the scoring action, as he added four.

Jaron Hoffpauir and Trevail Briggs each added three apiece.

Luis Flores rounded out the socoring for the Wildcats, with his two points in the fourth quarter.

The Wildcats now prepare to take on Franklin as part of the second game in a home-in-home.

That game will take place on Friday night at the Abbeville gym.

The last time these two teams met, Franklin was able to get the jump on the Wildcats and won by the final score of 64-63.

So the Wildcats will be looking for some redemption, especially with district play just around the corner.
