NV gets first district win

The North Vermilion Lady Patritos entered the game against Kaplan, Tuesday night, on a two game district losing streak.

That streak was ended abruptly as the Lady Patriots took control of the game and won by the final score of 49-33.

“Any win is a good win, but this one is a little better because it’s district,” Lady Pats Head Coach Phillip Freeman said. “We shot free throws better, and we made a few mistakes but we got the w and that’s the important thing.

Morgan Harrington led the way in scoring for the Lady Patriots with her team and game high 12 points.

Lanie Breaux and Simone Pillette were right on her heels as they each scored 11 and 10 points respectively.

Chelsea Theriot and Lunden Graham helped boost the final tally by adding six and four points apiece.

Cassidy Hoffpauir, Kelli LeBlanc and Catherine Touchet rounded out the scoring for the Lady Pats by each adding two points.

Caroline and Lauren Touchet led the Lady Pirates in scoring as they each scored 11 points.

Kailey Lejeune and Dayne Bass each scored five and four points respectively.

Kendra Gums was able to add two points via the free throw line.

“I saw a lot of good things from my team,” Lady Pirates Head Coach Courtney Hargrave said. “We played with a lot of intensity and we never gave up and fought to the end.”

The Lady Patriots will be back in action this Friday night as they play host to the Abbeville Lady Wildcats.

Kaplan will also be in action this Friday night as they will return to the friendly confines of the Kaplan gym, as they will play against district rival West St. Mary.
