Eddie Thomas Sr.

ABBEVILLE - Homegoing services will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Mt. Triumph Baptist Church, 310 S. Lamar Street, Abbeville, La., honoring the life of Eddie Thomas Sr. Wake service begins at 8:00 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Home-going service begins at 11 a.m., with Rev. Henry L. Maze officiating.

Mr. Thomas passed away on May 13, at Abbeville General Hospital. He was 83 years old.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Eldora Thomas, his daughter, Gerrilyn Thomas, and a step son, Jimmie Emerson that he reared as his own. One sister, Lucille B. Wimbly and one brother, George Reedom, one brother-in-law James Wimbly and one sister-in-law, Berteen Joiner, 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his former wife, Marjorie Minnick, his son Eddie “June” Thomas Jr., and a step son, Anthony Roy Green.

Pall bearers will be Jimmie Emerson, Darian Peters, Damien Peters, Ivory Peters Jr., Rene Broussard, and Jamie Broussard.

Final arrangements are entrusted to Fletcher Funeral Home located at 1116 Green Street, Abbeville, La. 70510.

The interment will be at Mt. Triumph Cemetery in Gross Isle and the repast will be held in the Mt. Triumph Baptist Church Cafeteria.
