Cecile Choate LeBouef

ABBEVILLE — God saw she was getting tired, a cure not meant to be, so he put his arms around her and whispered “Come with me” to Cecile Choate LeBouef, 100, widow of Edgar Pierre LeBouef, who died Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Maison du Monde Living Center. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 10, 2012 at a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Abbeville.

She will be laid to rest at St. Mary Magdalen Cemetery with Rev. William Blanda officiating the services. Cousin, Patricia Falcon will be soloist, accompanied by Tommy Guidry, organist. Readers and gift bearers will be her granddaughters. Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons, Craig and Edgar Broussard, Ja’Rel Broussard, Randall and Marcus Breaux, Charles Touchet, and Jared Babineaux. Honorary pallbearers will be her remaining grandchildren, great grandchildren.

Cecile was born on December 6, 1911 at Chenier Au Tigre, Louisiana and baptized on January 4, 1912 at St. John’s Church in Henry, Louisiana. She was the seventh of twelve children and the last sibling of Granville and Edmazie Choate. She attended school at Chenier Au Tigre, Louisiana in the 1920’s. Her early years she grew up without the most modern convenience of today.

When Cecile moved to Abbeville, she lived with her sister, Dora. She worked as a receptionist for Dr. Marion Young. She took care of Mrs. Mark (Rose) Hebert and her baby girl and would baby sit children.

Cecile on November 4, 1934 married Edgar Pierre LeBouef, son of False Foley and Elvinia Hebert LeBouef. They were married for 46 years until the time of his death on November 23, 1980. They lived in Perry, Louisiana, where she was the oldest living resident before she entered the nursing home in 2010. She was a devoted cattlemen and rice farmers wife, homemaker and a full time mother. She was deeply committed to her Catholic faith. She’d read her morning prayers and prayed several rosaries daily. She lived her life according to the will of God.

Cecile was a widow for 31 years, a loving caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, step great grandmother, and great great grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening, playing cards, crocheting and visiting with family and friends. She had a beautiful smile and was “witty” at times. After the death of her husband, she devoted her life to her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her three daughters, Georgann and her husband Warren James Broussard of Abbeville, Connie Faye Breaux , and Linda Lou and her husband Carroll Desormeaux of Perry; ten grandchildren, Christine Ann Babineaux and her husband Timmy, Denise Kay and her companion Howard Breaux, Gretchen Marie Derveloy and her husband Kenneth, Craig Anthony Broussard and his wife Kim, Annette Cecile Crase and her husband Paul, Edgar John “Bozo” Broussard and his wife Dorene, Mary Catherine Porter and her husband Randal, Randall James Breaux and his wife Leslie, Jacqueline Marie Guidry and her husband John, and Nicole Rene Desormeaux; sixteen great grandchildren, Charles Edgar Touchet and his wife Jessica, Camille Hope Menard and her husband Drake, Jared Scott Babineaux and his wife Jena, Paige Marie Broussard, Demetri Renee Broussard, Ja’Rel Cortez Broussard and his companion Rachel Head, Marcus James Breaux, Kristie Nicole Mire and her fiance Jared Abshire, Alexis Kay Broussard, Megan Cherie Broussard, Blair Kathryn Breaux, Tyler James Broussard, Janson Paul Crase, Paige Marie Broussard, Brandon James Breaux, and Jacie Marie Broussard; six step great grandchildren, Tara Derveloy, Jason Derveloy, Dustin Crase, Michael Crase, Katy Crase, and Kerwin Guidry; seven great great grandchildren, Chase Hernandez, Ethen Breaux, Kaylee Breaux, Chloe Touchet, Chanler Menard, Madison Broussard, and Kynlee Broussard; and godchildren, Audrey Bourque, and Carolyn Murray. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Pierre LeBouef and all of his family; parents, Granville and Edmazie Dronet Choate; paternal parents, William Choate, Sr. and Azelie Guidry; maternal parents, Jules Dronet and Ida Comeaux; siblings, George Choate and his wife Ophelia, Rene “Pete” Choate and his wife Emma, Obrey “Tot” Choate, Alice Choate, Azalie “LeeLee” Farrington and husband Harold, Granville, Jr. “Lulu” Choate and wife Destine, Alpha “Shoot” Choate and Louise, Anna Leger and husband George, Paul Choate and Rose, Dora Veazey and husband Arceneaux, and Aurore “Coonie” Veazey and husband Aubrey; and godchild, Dolores Choate Gavin Snead.

For the special love and thoughtful caring ways you’ve always given - kindness, patience, wisdom, support, understanding, strength, grace, tenderness, concern, compassion and hope; for the memories we shared of special time and special days; for the value you taught us; for the faith and support in times of sorrow, and the memories of time gone by and the visions of tomorrow, God has truly blessed, for when he gave our family you, He save his very best and this brings our loving “Thank you”!

May you rest in peace and you will truly be missed by all of us.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Vincent Funeral Home - Abbeville, 209 S. St. Charles Street, on Friday, March 9, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 p.m.; Saturday, March 10, 2012 from 8:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. when the procession will depart for the church.
