Newton, Zeringue exchange vows

Lauren Noel Newton and Ralph Anthony Zeringue took part in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony on Friday, October 18, 2013, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Abbeville, Louisiana. Reverend William C. Blanda officiated the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Sam and Donna Newton of Bunkie, Louisiana. Her grandparents are Louise Noel of Opelousas, Louisiana; the late Thomas Noel of Arnaudville, Louisiana; and Margaret Newton and the late Marvin Newtown of Bunkie, Louisiana.

The groom is the son of Merton and Cathy Zeringue of Abbeville. His grandparents are Claire Porretto and the late Frank Poretto Sr. of Houma, Louisiana, and the late Sam and Irene Zeringue of Raceland, Louisiana.

The bride was escorted by her father, Sam Newton. She wore a white gown with a sweetheart bodice covered in beaded lace with illusion sleeves and back. The skirt was side-draped satin with pick-up details and a chapel train. The veil was a simple, elbow-length tulle. Her bouquet was a mixture of sunflowers, white roses and hydrangeas.
The maid of honor was Katelyn Newton, the bride's sister. The matrons of honor were Courtney Newton and Jennifer Newton, sisters-in-law of the bride and the bridesmaid was M'Lee Newton, sister of the bride.

The best man was Branden LeBlanc, a friend of the groom. Scott Zeringue, a brother of the groom, Taylor Gautreaux, friend of the groom, and Taylor Newton, brother of the bride, were all groomsmen.

Music for the ceremony was provided by organist Tommy Guidry and vocalist Johnny Luquette. Readings were given by Megan Zeringue, godchild of the groom; Mrs. Dorothy Meche, godmother of the bride; and Mrs. Jeanne Zeringue, sister-in-law of the groom. Brad Newton and Scott Newton, both brothers of the bride, were ushers. The mother of the bride was escoted by Scott Newton and the mother of the groom was escorted by Merton Zeringue. Megan Zeringue and Molly Zeringue, both nieces of the groom, were gift bearers.

After the ceremony, a reception took place at Magdalen Place. The newlyweds took their wedding trip to Gatlinburg, Tennessee, before returning to Abbeville, where the couple will reside.
