Katherine Ortego - Joshua Broussard united in marriage

Katherine Elaine Ortego of Lafayette and Joshua Mark Broussard of Abbeville were united in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony on Friday, December 30, 2016, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church. The nuptial Mass was celebrated by Reverend Louis J. Richard.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Sidney Ortego of Lafayette. Mrs. Ortego is the former Laurie Ellen Chance. The bride is the granddaughter of Mrs. John E. Chance and the late Mr. John E. Chance of Lafayette and Mrs. Lawrence Sidney Ortego and the late Mr. Lawrence Sidney Ortego of Ville Platte.
Katherine graduated from The University of Louisiana at Lafayette in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She has since been employed as an Executive Assistant for Oceaneering International, Inc. in Lafayette.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Charles Broussard of Abbeville. Mrs. Broussard is the former Cynthia Landry. Joshua is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wardray Landry of Abbeville and Mr. Charles Lucius Broussard of Abbeville and the late Ms. Eugenie LeBlanc Broussard.
Joshua is a 2013 graduate of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where he received a Bachelor of Applied Science in General Studies. He is currently employed as the owner and operator of Southern Lawn Management, LLC.
Given in marriage by her parents and escorted by her father, Katherine chose to wear her mother’s wedding gown redesigned by the groom’s mother, Mrs. Cynthia Landry Broussard. The gown was ivory French Leon lace and point d’esprit over a blush liner. The bodice featured a lace neckline, dropped waistline and long tapered sleeves. The hem of the full skirt and cathedral-length train were edged in a scalloped border of Leon lace and point d’esprit. She wore a cathedral-length veil of silk illusion bordered in matching lace and carried a free form natural cascading bouquet with white garden roses, white stock, freesia, quicksand roses, eskimo roses, and seeded eucalyptus.
Ellen Ortego Barousse, sister of the bride, served as Matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Laura Ortego Fusilier, Meghan Noel Lachaussee, Rebecca Lynn Murphree, Elise Marie Petitjean, Lana Rochelle Smith, Lauren Broussard Trahan, and Jordan Katherine Versaggi. They wore floor-length champagne colored dupioni silk gowns. They each carried a loose natural bouquet of quicksand roses, white stock, astilbe, and seeded eucalyptus. The flower girl, Amalie Claire Lachaussee, wore an ivory dupioni silk and chiffon ballerina length gown with lace trim, a champagne silk sash, and puffed sleeves.
The ring bearer, Evan Philip Broussard, wore a three piece ensemble of ivory dupioni silk featuring cropped trousers, a cummerbund and a peter pan collared shirt with fabric buttons.
The groom was attended by his best man, Daniel James McMurtry. Groomsmen were Andre Joseph Broussard, Heath Michael Broussard, Ryan Patrick Broussard, Matthew James deGraauw, Jeffrey Thomas Ortego, Phillip Chance Ortego, and Jeremy Lance Trahan. Ushers were Aaron Michael David, Adam Christopher Desormeaux, Andre Michael Landry, and Taylor Lewis Sellers.
Scriptures were read by Katherine Chance Erickson, Tammy Richard Landry, and Joseph Gabriel Vallee. Offertory gifts were presented by Chrissy Marie Broussard and Rani Primeaux Broussard.
Following the nuptial mass, a reception was held at Le Pavillon in Lafayette.
After returning from their honeymoon, the couple will reside in Abbeville, Louisiana.
