Dawn Michelle Vice becomes Mrs. Barry Lee Young

Miss Dawn Michelle Vice and Mr. Barry Lee Young, both of Abbeville, exchanged vows of marriage during a ceremony held at the Abbeville United Methodist Church on Saturday, June 25. Pastor John Vining and Rev. James P. Pruitt officiated the 4 p.m. wedding.
The bride is the daughter of Ms. Susan E. Guidry and Virgil Vice, both of Abbeville. Her grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Otto Guidry and Mary Joyce W. Vice and the late Elvin Vice, Sr., all of Abbeville.
The groom is the son of Fay Young of Maurice and the late Bobbie Lee Young of Hathaway. His grandparents are the late Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Trahan of Maurice and the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph “Joe” Young of Hathaway.
The music for the wedding was performed by Joy McClanahan, organist.
The mother of the bride was escorted by her grandsons, Drake and Mason Godwin.
The mother of the groom was escorted by her daughters Rainie Romero and Melanie Netto.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a wedding gown made of soft white satin. The A-line, halter dress featured a V-neck design and included a simple, but elegant floral applique on the left side. Her headpiece was a single row of elegant pearls. She carried a bouquet made of white calla lilies with a touch of blue and purple satin ribbon.
Attending as maid of honor was Twyla Luquette Abshire, cousin of the bride. Bridesmaids included Tanya Baudoin, sister of the groom; Taylor Choate, cousin of the bride; Tasha White, cousin of the bride; Falon Broussard, friend of the bride and Faith Baudoin, niece of the groom.
The maids wore a beautiful satin tank, long ball gown with some in the color purple and some in the color blue. The classic approach to the gowns were a structured pleated bodice with a fuller skirt and pockets. They each carried a single calla lily and a peacock feather wrapped in purple and blue satin ribbon.
Kenny Young, brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen included Kyler Girouard, nephew of the groom; Adam Duhon, brother of the groom; Tony Christ, friend of the groom and Jared Broussard, friend of the groom. Ushers were Clyde Romero, Jr., nephew of the groom and Christopher Arabie, friend of the groom.
A reception was held immediately following at the WOW Hall. The food was catered by Mrs. Rena Menard and music was provided by DJ Wesley Lemaire.
The hall was decorated with beautiful arrangements of calla lilies wrapped in purple and blue satin.
The bride’s cake was a beautiful, white, three tiered cake. The groom’s cake was decorated with a hunting theme.
The couple will reside in Abbeville.
A rehearsal dinner, hosted by the bride and groom at their home, was held on Thursday, June 23 at 6 p.m.
The bride is a 1999 graduate of Abbeville High School and a 2008 graduate of SLCC. She is employed with the Vermilion Parish School Board at Herod Elementary.
The groom is a 2000 graduate of Abbeville High School and is employed as a heavy haul truck driver.
