The Kaplan Pirates celebrate an outright district title.

Vermilion Parish Football Stars of Week 9

Abbeville High’s Demarcus Collins had his best performance in Abbeville’s win.
Collins had a hand in four touchdowns. He ran for 161 yards and scored a touchdown. He was three of six passing the football and completed two touchdown passes. And he caught two passes for 51 yards and one was for a touchdown.

Fullback Jalen Montgomery also had a big night for the Abbeville Wildcats. He had seven carries for 125 yards and he scored two touchdowns.

North Vermilion quarterback Garrett Becker was 13 out of 16 passing the football for 169 yards and one touchdown.

Connor Dupuy had seven catches for 110 yards and a score for North Vermilion.

The Kaplan Pirates won their first outright district title in 20 years, after beating Erath. The year, 1996, was also the last year Kaplan went 10-0. Right now they are 9-0.

Quarterback Daniel Lotief showed he can throw the football when needed. Lotief threw six passes and completed five, two were for touchdowns. He finished with 44 passing yards.

For the second game in a row, Kaplan had two 100 yard rushers. Julius Johnson ran 23 times for 155 yards and two scores. Mac Thibeaux had 25 carried for 114 yards and one touchdown.

VC quarterback JT Lege continues to have success in the air. Against Centerville, he was 9 out of 15 for 230 yards and four touchdowns.

VC’s Alex LeBlanc had four catches for 93 yards and he rushed five times for 73 yards.

VC field goal kicker Cade Boudreaux did his job on Friday. VC scored eight touchdowns and Boudreaux went 8-for-8 kicking extra points.
