VC grad named interim baseball coach at LSU-A

Alexandria, LA – LSUA looked within to fill the head baseball coach vacancy, naming recently hired assistant coach Steven Adams, Jr. as the new interim head coach, announced LSUA Chancellor Dr. Dan Howard.
A native of Abbeville, Louisiana, Adams joined LSUA earlier in the summer from Vermilion Catholic High School where he served as the head baseball, bowling, golf and cross country coach for the Eagles. The Eagles baseball team finished 2016 21-11 overall and 11-3 in District 7-1A and made the semifinals of the LHSAA state championship tournament.
He also ran the Team Louisiana baseball organization, based out of Erath, which had teams ranging from 7U to 18U. Adams managed and coached the 16U-18U teams, while hiring coaches for other teams and ran the day-to-day operations of the organization.
Before then, Adams served as the associate head coach at Hutchinson Community College in Hutchinson, Kansas, where he was the hitting, defense and base running coach and was also the coordinator for out of town recruiting.
"Given his outstanding coaching experience, both on and off the field, LSUA expects Steven will contribute a great deal to LSUA as interim head baseball coach," said Chancellor Howard.
Adams played for Northwestern State in Natchitoches, where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in General Studies in 2004 and a Master's in Science with an emphasis in Sport Administration in 2010. He's also a certified high school teacher.
