Ruby Frith Migues

NEW IBERIA – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Mrs. J.S. “Jay” Migues, the former Ruby Frith, age 95, at 10:00 am on Friday, December 30, 2016 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Fr. William Blanda will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Evangeline Funeral Home from 1:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Thursday with a rosary being prayed at 6:00 pm. The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 am on Friday until the service time.
A native of Port Arthur, TX and resident of New Iberia, Ruby passed away on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at New Iberia Manor South Nursing Home.
Born on December 18, 1921 to the late Oscar J. Frith and the late Annie Ardneaux Benton, Ruby was one of four children. She was a loving and caring woman who dedicated her time to furthering the community. Ruby belonged many organizations such as the VFW Post 182, the Delcambre Shrimp Festival Association, and the Council on Aging. She also served as the Den Mother for Cub Scout troop 461. Ruby loved flowers and worked as a licensed florist in various shops for over fifty years. She is best known for working at Paul’s Flower Shop where she remained until her retirement. Ruby was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be truly and deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Ruby is survived by her children, Jody Migues and wife Diane of Carencro, Barton Migues and wife Susan of Ponchatoula, and Silvia M. Norton and husband William of New Iberia; sister-in-law, Rose Toth LaBauve; grandchildren, Melanie Lambert and husband Lee, Christy Migues, Juan Migues, Deidra Segura and husband Rolling, Jennifer Picard and husband Chris, Kylie Provost and husband Toby, Jordan Migues and wife Sarah, and Hannah Jackson and husband T.J.; fourteen great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband J.S. “Jay” Migues; parents, Oscar J. Frith and Annie Ardneaux Benton; sisters, Opal F. Dartez and Anna Belle F. St. Julian; and brother, Earl Frith.
Pallbearers will be Jordan, Brison, Rolling, Lee, Toby, and T.J. Honorary pallbearers will be William, Reese, and Payton.
