Ernest “Lynn” Howell

MAURICE — A celebration of life gathering will be held for Ernest “Lynn” Howell, 55 years, who died Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at his residence. The memorial barbecue was held at noon, Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Woodlawn Chapel, 8001 Woodlawn Rd., Maurice, LA. All family and friends were welcome to Lynn’s celebration.
Lynn was a loving husband, son, father, brother, grandfather and friend who will be dearly missed by many. He lived life to the fullest.
He worked as an account manager for Distribution Now and served as an alderman for the Village of Maurice. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time at his camp on the Sabine River. He was the 2014 Buffalo Hot Wings Championship Chef held in Terlingua, TX. He was a member of the CASI Chili Cooking Association. Also a peer mentor for the Amputee Coalition of America.
He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Sherry Sherman Howell; two sons, Drew Howell and his wife Danielle of Broussard, and Colby Howell of Lafayette; daughter, Ashley Dumesnil and her husband Joshua of Broussard; four grandchildren, Ella Rae Dumesnil, Joshua “JD” Dumesnil, Henry Bob Howell and Harvey Daniel Howell; mother, Bethel “Beth” Howell; father, Ernest Howell and his wife, Beverly of Evans; two sisters, Lorie Larence and her husband Gary of DeRidder, and Debra Nugent and her husband Michael of Houston, TX; two step-brothers, Andrew Paul and Geoffrey Paul; and one step-sister, Amy Paul.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Linda Lavergne; paternal grandparents, Mid and Evie Howell; and maternal grandparents, Claude and Euna Kelley.
