Antoine Wiley “Buck” Richard

ERATH — A Mass of Christian Burial for Antoine Wiley “Buck” Richard age 87, will be held on Wednesday November 12, 2014 at 11:00AM in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Fr. Bill Melancon officiating. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Erath on Wednesday November 12, 2014 from 8:30AM until 11:00AM service time with a rosary prayed at 9:30AM in the funeral home.
Antoine Wiley “Buck” Richard passed away at his home in Erath on Monday November 10, 2014. He was born to Janeuse Richard and the former Alicia Desormeaux on January 26, 1927.
Buck joined the Navy at 17 and served his country through the end of World War ll. Upon completion of his service, he went to work for Freeport Sulphur Company where he was employed for over forty years. In the Late 1980’s, when the company was downsizing, only a few men were kept to man the remaining tug boats. Buck was one of those men. Poppee was a doting husband, a giving father, and a loving grandfather.
Buck leaves behind his wife of sixty-five years; Mary Joyce Landry Richard; two daughters; Madelyn (Donald) Gallagher, and Pamela’ (Johnny) Thibodeaux, and one son; Mark Richard. Poppee is also survived by six grandchildren; Donny (Denise) Gallagher, Scotty Gallagher, Richie (Lisa) Thibodeaux, Jan (Jonathan) Bouillion, Micah Thibodeaux, and Andrew Richard, seven great-grandchildren; Zooey, Ollie, and Miles Gallagher, Christian and Gavin Thibodeaux, and Ali and Brooks Bouillion.
He is proceeded in death by his parents; Janeuse and Alicia Richard, one sister; Lillian Dronet, seven brothers; Clarence, Gaston, Moise, Lloyd, Junius, Remus, and Purfey Richard.
Nothing made Poppee happier than to be surrounded by his family. He now rests peacefully with his heavenly family.
