You can wear your Cajun heritage on your license plate

BREAUX BRIDGE - It’s official.
Cajuns can now proclaim their heritage with an “I’m Cajun....and Proud,” license plate on their vehicles.
On Tuesday, Nov. 26, state Rep. Mike “Pete” Huval and state Sen. Fred Mills Jr. unveiled the new license plate at the Louisiana Department of Motor Vehicles Office in Breaux Bridge.
Huval – who is fluent in French, cooks an award-winning crawfish etouffee, and has impeccable Cajun credentials – authored the new law that required the secretary of the Department of Public Safety and Corrections to issue special prestige license plates proclaiming “I’m Cajun” and “I’m Creole.”
The annual fee for the specialty license plates is $15. Proceeds will be go to the Council for the Development of French in Louisiana (CODOFIL) to help keep the French language alive in Louisiana.
