VC explodes in the second half to whip Central Catholic
The Vermilion Catholic Eagles (11-0) exploded for 34 points in the second half to whip Central Catholic 34-0 in the second round of the Class 1A football playoffs.
The Eagles scored 28 points in the third period to blow the game open.
Quarterback Brennan Gallet was 11 for 25 passing for 170 yards and five TDs.
Mike Campbell had 124 yards rushing on 17 totes. He had 39 yards receiving and a receiving touchdown.
The top receivers were Connor Menard and Emile Trahan. Menard had four receptions 60 yards (2 TDs). Trahan had three catches for 60 yards for two TDs.
VC will entertain St. Mary from Natchitoches. Tickets for the third round game will cost $10.
