Relief Efforts Have Ended

Relief efforts have ended today after two days of hard meticulous work by volunteers, Louisiana National Guard, Mississippi National Guard, Vermillion Parish Sheriffs Department, Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries, Vermilion Parish Police Jury, Gueydan Fire Department and Gueydan Police Department. After dropping 402 sandbags weighting 3,000 pounds a piece into a breach in a levee the work ended on a good note with official satisfied and impressed, according to State Representative Bob Hensgens. He goes on to say, "As tough as the last two days has been I have never been so proud of the men I have spent it with."
