Longtime Mayor of Gueydan dies

Longtime Gueydan Mayor Rene Breaux passed away early this morning Tuesday, September 29. He was 97. His unexpected death is creating an outpouring of sympathy from those who worked with him in public service and from the vast community. One of the most savvy local politician of his generation “Mayor Breaux” as he was fondly known as, was a major influence on the town of Gueydan through his many civic endeavors. Services will be though Vincent Funeral Home and are pending.
