Kaplan Police arrest Tyler Leger for attempted armed robbery

Thanks to the help of local citizens who came forward with information, a Kaplan man was arrested for attempted armed robbery.
Tyler Leger, 19, of Gazette Road in Kaplan was arrested, and the weapon used in the robbery was also found and seized.
Leger is incarcerated in the Kaplan city jail.
Bond is set at $200,000.
Kaplan Police Chief Boyd Adams reported just after 10 p.m. on Monday, March 21, 2016, the Kaplan Police received a call from a local convenience store of an armed robbery.
When officers arrived, it was learned the suspect did not succeed in completing the armed robbery.
According to Adams, when the suspect told the cashier he wanted all the money, she informed him that the manager and just picked up all the cash.
“When the cashier said this, he was just walking back and forth. I think he was intimated with the male customer who was in the store and fortunately for us, he turned and left without further problems,” said Adams.
The unknown suspect entered the store pointing a pistol at people in the store, and demanded everyone remain calm, all he wanted was the money.
Witnesses said the suspect appeared to be very nervous and fled the scene without obtaining the money in the store.
Police were looking for a white male who is approximately 6’ to 6’3”. He was wearing a ski mask over his face and was wearing dark clothing.
Chief Adams would like to thank all the citizens who came forward with information to help solve the burglary.
