In Abbeville, veterans marched from the old Hibernia Bank, down Charity Street to the War Memorial on Concord Street.

Once they arrived at the War Memorial,  the service flags were changed by different veterans.

Tradition in Erath

For almost two decades now, Dozier Elementary has hosted Veteran’s Day programs. On Monday, Dozier Elementary leaders, faculty members, the student body and members of the community honored Erath area veterans.

This year, Dozier Elementary Counselor Shelanne Richard spearheaded the program. Principal Karla Toups, several Dozier Elementary students, Erath veterans Boni Suire and Rodney Dugas were all on hand to speak to the students.

From 2009 until the time of his death former Dozier counselor Glenn Roy LeBlanc was the school’s Veteran Day’s organizer. LeBlanc passed away in July of 2013.

LeBlanc was also a veteran, so the school used this opportunity to invite his family members to the program as well. Erath Mayor Billy Cormier, Councilmen Tony Richard and Councilman John Earl LeBlanc, who is a veteran and Erath Police Chief Gerald Hebert were also on hand. Several members of the Central Office of the School Board were guests as well.
