Vermilion Parish Principals of the Year announced

The Vermilion Parish School Board recently named its principals of the year for 2013-2014 school year.
The three choices range in experience of being a principal from 14 years to only a couple of years.

High School
Gueydan High Principal Luddy Herpin was named the 2013-2014 Vermilion Parish High School Principal of the Year.
He is a 1966 Kaplan High graduate. He attained his B.A. at McNeese University in 1970. In 1972, he earned his Master’s Degree in Administration and Supervision. Herpin started teaching in 1970 as an eighth grade math teacher, in what was then part of Kaplan High School. In 1977, he left education to enter into the farming business.
In 1992, he returned to teaching at Rene Rost as an 8th science teacher. In 1997 he became the Assistant Principal at Gueydan High and became Principal at GHS in the fall of 1999.
Herpin has been married 47 years to Shirley Guidry Herpin, who is a RN at Abbeville General.
Together the duo has four children, three of which (Shamayne Istre, Shay Herpin. Shana Broussard) are teaching in the Vermilion Parish system. His son Scott Herpin works with Kaplan Telephone Company. He and Shirley have six grandchildren (Skyla, Mitchell, Sara Carine, Gabe, Kylie, and Grayson).

Middle School
Dana Primeaux, the current principal at JH Williams was named the Vermilion Parish Middle School Principal of the Year. She is a 1989 Henry High graduate. She received her B.A at USL in Animal Science in 1993. Primeaux then received her B.A. at ULL in Education and her M.ED from McNeese in 2005.
Primeaux worked several years as a classroom teacher. She taught one year at Vermilion Catholic, ten years at Notre Dame, one year at Erath Middle and then two years at JH Williams. Following her two years at JHW, she was appointed to Gueydan High as the Assistant Principal. She remained there for three years until her appointment to JH Williams in 2012.

Elementary
Wendy Stoute, the current Eaton Park Elementary Principal, was named the Vermilion Parish Elementary Principal of the Year. She is a 1978 Erath High graduate. In 1989, she received her B.A. degree in education from USL. After graduation she continued working on her education and received her M.ED from UL in 2002, and Master’s Degree +30 and Specialist Degree in 2003. Stoute worked as assistant principal at JH Williams, then was named principal at Cecil Picard Elementary from 2008-2011. In 2011, she began her tenure at principal at Eaton Park Elementary.
She is married to Tom Stoute; they have three children (Rachel S. Romero, Tommy Stoute Jr. and Gabrielle Stoute) and six grandchildren (Bailey, John, Parker, Trystan, Lynkon, Jackson­), with a seventh one on the way.
