Three businesses burglarized in Pecan Island/Forked Island

According to Vermilion Parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon, early Tuesday morning, the Sheriff’s Office responded to two business burglaries in the Forked Island area and one business burglary in Pecan Island.
The investigation is in the early stages, but Sheriff Couvillon says that Bar M Bait in Forked Island had approximately $700 cash taken and Cajun Diner in Forked Island had approximately $10 taken while the Pecan Island Food Store had approximately $2,100.
Detectives are currently attempting to retrieve video surveillance from the Pecan Island Food Store in an attempt to identify the person and/or persons responsible for this burglary and are coordinating their efforts with the Cameron Parish Sheriff’s Office as they (Cameron) are currently investigating a business burglary which may have been committed by the same individual and/or individuals.
