Record 325 compete in Beignet Boogie 5K in Abbeville

Sunday morning was perfect to run three miles through Abbeville neighborhoods and then feed your face full of beignets when you were done.
That is what happened Sunday morning for the 2015 Beignet Boogie 5-K, 1 Mile walk held at Mt. Carmel/Vermilion Catholic schools.
At record number 325 runners and walkers signed up to take part in the event.
The fund-raiser is in conjunction with the May Festival.
Sunday’s runners ranged in age from 5 years old to 71 years old.
The overall winner was 28-year old Jason Thompson from Breaux Bridge. He ran an impressive 18:50 to win by 1 minute and 32 seconds over the rest of the field.
Taking second was 35-year-old Cody Fontenot from Duson. Fontenot finished in 20:22.7.
The overall female winner was Lunden Graham, a senior at North Vermilion High School.
She finished in 23:30. Holly Hagle of Abbeville was second (24:09), followed by Kayla McCollum of Lafayette (24:37).
