Melanie Hensgens GHS Teacher of the Year

GUEYDAN - ‘The influence of a good teacher can never be erased’ - No better words can describe Melanie Hensgens, the 2014-15 Gueydan High School Teacher of the Year. She was presented with a bouquet of flowers by GHS Principal Luddy Herpin during a brief program and announcement this week.
Starting her teaching career 25 years ago, Melanie Hensgens has taught High School math at Gueydan High for most of those 25 years. She admits she loves teaching math but her favorite type of math is calculus.
By all accounts, Melanie is exactly the kind of teacher every high school parent wants for their child. She gives each student the opportunity to learn, she gives them knowledge, the best tool there is to move on to college or into the work force, and according to one of her GHS colleagues she is loving and absolutely committed to making the educational experience exceptional for every student in her class.
While making a career of teaching Melanie and her husband, Keith, raised four sons and one daughter.
GHS Teacher of the Year is chosen by Gueydan High faculty and staff.
