Gift for Herod Elementary

UnitedHealthcare, former Louisiana State University (LSU) MVP Justin Vincent, public officials and community leaders gathered today to unveil a new outdoor basketball court to the students of James A. Herod Elementary School in Abbeville. The new basketball court was made possible by a $10,000 donation from UnitedHealthcare.
“Keeping kids physically healthy is vitally important, and I couldn’t ask for a better partner in this effort than UnitedHealthcare,” said Vincent, a Dreambuilders Foundation ‘captain.’ “This new outdoor basketball court donated to Herod Elementary will help the students get fit and stay healthy.”
During the event, hosted by Herod Elementary School Principal Lysonia Robertson, UnitedHealthcare-Gulf States CEO Joe Ochipinti, Vincent and other guests helped celebrate the new basketball court with an inaugural pick-up game of hoops with a group of Herod students and UnitedHealthcare mascot, Dr. Health E. Hound.
“Our students are extremely excited about this new basketball court,” said Robertson. “We greatly appreciate UnitedHealthcare’s generosity and support and know that it will go a long way in helping to foster our students’ physical and social development, which will benefit them for years to come.”
“UnitedHealthcare is honored to partner with the Dreambuilders Foundation to provide the new basketball and physical education outlet for the students,” said Ochipinti. “It is our sincere hope that this new addition to their school will help them embrace an active lifestyle, while instilling them with a sense of school pride.”
