Abbeville man, Kaplan man arrested for allegedly stealing from scrap yard in Intracoastal City

According to Vermilion parish Sheriff Mike Couvillon, two people have been arrested in relation to thefts of stainless steel and aluminum from LaRose Scrape and Salvage in Intracoastal City during the early morning hours of Nov. 6.
Deputies arrested Harry Lee Touchet, 34, of Kaplan and Ricky James Harrington, 34, of Abbeville. Both men have been booked into the Vermilion Parish Correctional Center. No bonds have been set at this time.
Sheriff Couvillon said that detectives opened an investigation last week and were able to catch the thieves in the act while conducting a covert operation last night.
At approximately 3:45 a.m., the VPSO Patrol Division & Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division initiated a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle as it left LaRose Scrap and Salvage and located a large amount of stainless and aluminum in the bed of the pickup truck. Two suspects were arrested at that time and the truck was towed and secured at the Vermilion Parish Sheriff’s Evidence yard.
