A car drove through the front door of the DMV last week. Contractors are busy trying to repair the damage.

Abbeville DMV will be closed for two weeks after accident

The Abbeville Department of Motor Vehicles Office will be closed for at least two weeks.
Stephen Campbell, the commissioner of the Louisiana Department of Motor Vehicles, confirmed that the office will be shut down because of construction at the DMV.
This past Friday a vehicle driven by an elderly woman drove into the front door of the DMV in Abbeville.
Her car drove through the lobby and came to a stop at the desk where there were workers.
No one was in the lobby when the accident occurred and no one was injured at the desks where the car came to a stop.
Campbell said not only was the front door and interior walls damaged, but there was also electronic damage that needs to be repaired.
Workers from Abbeville’s DMV have been transferred to other DMV offices in Acadiana.
Until Abbeville reopens, Campbell recommends anyone in need of the DMV to go to the New Iberia, Lafayette or Crowley office.
