Romero, Becker united in Holy Matrimony

Pearle Ann Romero of Abbeville, Louisiana, and John J. Becker Jr. of Abbeville were joined together in the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Abbeville. Father William Blanda officiated the ceremony.

The bride is the daughter of Ms. Mary Romero of Meaux, Louisiana, and the late E.J. Romero of Erath, Louisiana. She is the granddaughter of Mr. Paul L. Hary and the late Adele Hardy of Erath and the late Joe and Anna Mae Romero of Abbeville.

The groom is the son of Ms. Helen Becker and the late John J. Becker Sr. of Abbeville. He is the grandson the late Clevance and Ena Meaux of Abbeville and the late Idel and Ilene Becker of Houston, Texas.

The bride was escorted by her three sons, Blake Arceneaux, Trevor Trahan and Garrett Trahan. Crystal M. Abshire, a cousin of the bride served as maid of honor. Michelle Carlin, the bride’s best friend, and Rosalind Boutte, Michelle Theriot, and Fonda Lartigue, all friends of the bride, and Heidi Becker, sister of the groom, served as bridesmaids.

Herbert “Bubbie” Abshire, the groom’s best friend and cousin of the bride, served as best man in the ceremony. Groomsmen were Jason Becker, brother of the groom; Michael Becker, son of the groom; Jay M. Romero Jr., nephew of the bride; and Marshall Romero and Jerrod Henry, both friends of the groom.

Hazie and Mazie Hebert, nieces of the groom, served as flower girls while Garrett Trahan, son of the bride, served as ring bearer.

Tommy Guidry provided the music for the ceremony. Readings were offered by Angela Godwin, Betsy Malhiet, and Melissa Romero, all friends of the bride and groom. The mother of the bride was escorted by Jay Romero Jr. and the mother of the groom was escorted by Michael Becker.

A reception was held after the ceremony at Magdalen Place. The two have a surprise wedding trip, a gift from the groom to the bride, and upon their return will reside in Abbeville.

The newlyweds give a special “Thank you” to Aleah Romero for all of her help.
