Local student gets national recognition

Inglyn Smith, a student from Abbeville High, received special recognition from the United State Achievement Academy.

Smith is the daughter of Katina Smith of Abbeville and Rodney Randolph of Dallas, Texas. Her grandparents are Samuel and Elsie Smith of Abbeville.

The USAA “established the All-American Scholar Award Program to offer deserved recognition to superior students who excel in the academic disciplines,” according to their news release. The recognized scholars have a 3.3 GPA or higher and can only be nominated by a school instructor or counselor (or other qualified official).

Smith was nominated by Shannon Sewell of Abbeville High. Smith will appear in the USAA All-American Scholar Yearbook, which is published nationally.

“Recognizing and supporting our youth is more important than ever before in America’s history,” Dr. George Stevens, Founder of the United States Achievement Academy said. “Certainly, students recognized as All-American Scholars should be congratulated and appreciated for their dedication to excellence and achievement.”
