AHS competes well at FCCLA

Baton Rouge, LA - Youth from around Louisiana gathered March 31 through April 1 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for the 2014 FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) State Leadership Conference themed “Find Your Talent”.

More than 445 students, advisers and guests gathered to hear motivational speakers and become involved in FCCLA activities. These activities challenged students to take a lead in their families, careers, and communities.

On March 31st, students competed in were STAR (Students Taking Action for Recognition) Events, which are individual or team competitive events that focus on a variety of youth concerns.

Members and advisers participated in workshops that focused on advocacy and FCCLA.

The last day of conference concluded with our Spread the Red Event hosted at State Capitol where our members were able to meet with their legislators and advocate for FCCLA and FACS.

During our Closing and Awards Sessions chapters were recognized for their membership recruitment efforts throughout the year. Members that participated in STAR Events received their competition results and medals.

The day ended with the installation of the 2014-2015 Louisiana FCCLA State Executive Council.

Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a dynamic and effective national student organization that helps young men and women become leaders and address important personal, family, work and societal issues through Family and Consumer Sciences Education.
