Kaplan man charged with 1st degree murder

A Kaplan man was arrested and charged with the 1st degree murder of a Lafayette pizza delivery person.

Aaron Richards, 32, who is currently living out of state, was charged with the murder of Tim Falgout.

Falgout was the Pizza Hut delivery driver who was stabbed to death on March 29, 2010 in the 300 Block of Rue Canard Street in Lafayette as he was making a delivery.

Detectives say DNA evidence collected at the scene of the Falgout murder, linked Richards to the crime.

Knowing he was out of state, officials waited for the opportunity to arrest him when he was scheduled for a court appearance for a prior offense.

Reports indicated Richards was charged with first degree robbery for repeatedly hitting a woman in the face in a Lafayette parking lot last April.

When he showed up at the Lafayette Parish Courthouse for this offense, detectives were prepared for Richards and arrested him for the murder of Falgout.

Chief of Police Boyd Adams says Richards also has a felony warrant against him in connection with an incident in Kaplan when he allegedly struck a man in the face with a bottle and punched him afterwards.

He is being charged with aggravated second degree battery.

Police also say Richards has been in and out prison for drugs.
