Patriots can’t make it three in a row

The North Vermilion Patriots have been on a roll as of late.

Coming into the game against Lafayette Christian, the Patriots had won their last two basketball games and five of their last six games.

Unfortunately for the Patriots all that came to and end as NV had to drive home on the heels of 69-53 loss to Lafayette Christian.

The Patriots got off to a slow start and it put them behind the eight ball, all night.

In the first quarter the Patriots offense was only able to score 10 points, and the defense allowed Lafayette Christian 14.

Things only got worse for the Patriots as the game went on.

In the second quarter the four point deficit grew to a 10 point deficit as the Patriots were out scored 17-11.

Coming out of the halftime break has usually been where the Patriots have turned games around. This time they had no such lick.

They were out scored 16-9 in the third.

The fourth quarter was a wild finish as both teams scored 22 points.

Leading the way in scoring for the Patriots was Mike Bessard.

Bessard scored a team and game high 17 points. He scored seven of his 17 points in the fourth quarter.

On Bessard’s heels were Nick Cooper and Jordan Windmon.

Cooper was able to score 13 points on the night, thanks in large part to his big fourth quarter.

Cooper scored nine of his 12 points in the Patriots big fourth quarter. Five of those points came from the free throw line.

Windmon was able to put in 12 points for the Patriots. He scored eight of his 12 in the second half.

Donald Comeaux was able to get in on the scoring action as he added nine. All nine came in the second and third quarters.

Dade Dietrich rounded out the scoring for the Patriots, as he added two.

The Patriots record now falls to 11-5 overall.

This was also the last game of the season for the Patriots that will not be a district game.

The Patriots will be back on the court Tuesday, when they host district rival Kaplan.
