Lady Pirates fall to Crowley

Kaplan Lady Pirates good hosts to Crowley Ladies. They fall by a score of 47 - 36.

Both coaches lamented about youth and inexperience; the Crowley coach claimed “this to be a good game to get us going” With youth and inexperience this broke a 6-game losing streak. “Kaplan played us tough, was hard-

fought (game)” Untimely mistakes have been hurting and we have not been too successful. Similar comments were echoed by KHS coach Courtney Hargrave. “We do not have enough game experience, but we are growing

and learning.” Both are hopeful that by district games, things will fall into place. For the Lady Pirates, they are hopeful that shot accuracy, both from the field and the foul line will improve.

It was not for lack of hustle that the Lady Pirates faced an uphill batttle, scoring only 4 points in the first quarter, followed by 7, 9 and then 16 in the 4th quarter all out effort. The first quarter was mainly a battle of the boards

with Dayne Bass being out-Ladied by 6ft center Myah Rogers, who played taller. Bass got help on the boards from Lauren Touchet, Kailey LeJeune, and Kendra Gums later in the game. It was shot accuracy and turnovers

that marred the 1st quarter. The second quarter saw the beginning of better ball movement which continued giving the uphill scoring results.

The Lady Pirates were led in scoring by Kendra Gums with 11, closely followed by Lauren Touchet with 9. Rounding out the scoring were Lexi Breaux with 6, LeJeune with 4, and Bass and Caroline Touchet with 3 apiece.

Crowley was led in scoring by a 2-pronged attack with game high scorer Alana Plummer having 19 to her credit and Myah Rogers 12 and support from 5 other players.

JV game:

Just as in the varsity game, a 2-pronged attack with Saquoya Savoy with 10 and Brittan Vallier with 11 led the JV Ladies to a 27-11 victory over the Junior Lady Pirates. Scorers for KHS were Madison Primeaux and Aimee

Bourque with 4 apiece; Dacotah Marceaux 2; and Blair Hebert 1. The JV Lady Pirates showed good hustle but could not get more than 4 points in a quarter. Several accurate shots by Ali Prejean would just not fall! She and

Madison Primeaux provided good point guard play. Showing more signs of Coach Hargrave’s comment; “It’s coming!”
