Honey Bears lose at the buzzer

The Gueydan Honey Bears were looking for a little redemption after dropping the game to VC earlier in the week.

They sought to get a victory over Hanson Memorial, and were unfortunately denied the victory they sought after.

The Honey Bears fell to Hanson by the final score of 36-34 on a last second buzzer beater.

Leading the way for the Honey Bears in scoring was Kylie Crochet.

The Honey Bears started the game on fire.

The offense was able to put up 11 in the first quarter, while the defense held Hanson to 10.

The second quarter rolled around and the Honey Bears went cold and were only able to score five points in the quarter.

Hanson was able to take a sizable lead as they scored 14 and took a 24-16 lead into halftime.

The second half is where the Honey Bears were able to battle back.

Thanks in large part to the defense only allowing Hanson to score 12 points, and the offense scoring 18.

Everything was going great for the Honey Bears comeback as they tied the game up late in the fourth quarter.

Right before the buzzer sounded to end the regulation Haley Bollinger threw up a shot and as the buzzer was going off the ball fell through the hoop giving Hanson the 36-34 victory.

Crochet scored a team and game high 15 points. She scored 10 of her 15 points in the first half.

Right behind Crochet in scoring was Sheridan Guidry.

Guidry was the only other person to score in double-digits, and she scored 11.

Ashari Terry was also able to get in on the scoring as she was able to add three points of her own.

T’nia Leger, Ke’ara Charles and Nya Boudreaux rounded out the scoring for the Honey Bears as they added two, two and one point respectively.

The Honey Bears record now slips to 11-7 overall and 2-2 in district.
