Lynn Moss selected as the Homecoming Grand Marshal

In early September when Erath High began annual preparations, long time Erath educator Lynn Guidry Moss was chosen to be the school’s grand marshal for the 2014 Homecoming Parade.
For thirty years, Moss has been an active member of the Erath and Henry area serving as a different capacities, such as teacher, leader, and often parent volunteer on committees for her own children as well.
Erath High Principal Marc Turner stated, “Mrs. Lynn Moss is a legend here in the community of Erath. I know this to be true as she was my biology teacher when I was here at Erath High School before her leadership role of principal.” He continued by stating “Her knowledge of the students (and their families) is respected and admired. She has the compassion of a mother, and the dignity of a teacher and principal. My own entrance into the principal role here at EHS was successful in part due to the support she gave me as our campus’ are connected and her students become my EHS students. Her role at EMS set a magnanimous stage for the students transitioning from middle school to high school. Turner ended saying, “Mrs. Moss is known to be fair, witty and warm. It is my pleasure to know her as a friend and mentor – we are thrilled that she will serve as the 2014 EHS Homecoming Parade Marshall.”
Moss retired in June of 2014 with three decades as an educator. Moss is an 1978 E. Broussard High School graduate. She received her Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education, with a Minor in Science (Biology) from USL in 1984. She then went on to attain her Masters in Educational Administration from McNeese in 1992.
Moss began her journey as an educator in Vermilion Parish in 1984. She taught science and PE at Henry High School from 1984-1990. She also coached girls basketball and track at that time as well. She was also the Co-Sponsor Student Council.
In 2002, she was named the Henry Elementary Principal and remained there until 2005 when she was became the Erath Middle School Principal. In 2010, while at Erath Middle, she was named the Vermilion Parish Middle School Principal of the Year. Moss remained at EMS until her retirement in June of 2014.
Upon hearing the news that Erath High chose her as the 2014 Homecoming Grand Marshal, Moss stated “I am honored to have been selected as the Grand Marshall for the Homecoming Parade. In 1988 I moved to Erath, but did not become a ‘Bobcat’ until 1990 when I started teaching at Erath High. This community is like no other; as I have said on countless occasions, It’s always a Great Day to be a Bobcat!”
