Lt. Jason Hebert

Abbeville Police Officer arrested by Louisiana State Police

Long-time Abbeville Police Officer Lt. Jason Hebert was arrested by the Louisiana State Police Tuesday afternoon and charged with simple battery for something that allegedly happened in April while he was off duty.
He was booked into the Vermilion Parish Correctional Facility and his bond was set at $2,500 bond. He bonded out not long after he was booked into the jail.
Master Trooper Brooks David with Louisiana State Police said on Wednesday morning that the State Police started the investigation back in April after the Fifteenth Judicial District Attorney’s Office asked them to look into allegations made against Hebert.
The investigation has since been turned over to the District Attorney’s office.
David did not release any more details because the investigation is active and ongoing.
The Abbeville Police Department also did not have a comment about Lt. Hebert’s arrest. It is not known if Hebert was put on administration leave until the investigation is completed.
