3rd DWI lands Suire in jail for six months

Cody Nicholas Suire pled guilty to his third DWI offense but will only spend 30 days in jail.

Earlier this month in the 15th Judicial Court at the Courthouse in Abbeville, trial began for Suire and he was represented by J. Isaac Funderburk. Laurie Hulin represented the State of Louisiana.

Suire first pled not guilty but later changed his plea to guilty.

A plea agreement was entered between the defendant. According to the agreement, Suire was sentenced to three years at hard labor, with all but 30 days suspended.

Upon release, Suire will be placed on three years of supervised probation. He is ordered to pay a fine of $2,000, plus, court cost. He is currently attending in-patient rehab and is scheduled to complete treatment next month.

He will begin serving his 30 days in jail 48 hours after he is released from the treatment center.

sentencings:

• Scotty Broussard entered a plea of Nola Contendre to the charge of Criminal Damage to Property less than $500.

The court handed down a six-month suspended sentence to the parish jail, and placed him on two years unsupervised probation. Conditions of probation forfeit rights to the pipe and flood gate, forfeit all right of ways to that front property of the victim, remain off of the property of Paul LeBlanc and have no contact with the victim and the victim’s family.

• Sy Paul Broussard entered a plea of Nola Contendre to the charge of Criminal Damage to Property less than $500.

• Francis Trahan entered a plea of guilty to theft less than $300 and received a six-month sentence to the parish jail.

• Roxanne Delahoussaye pled guilty to shoplifting and received a two-year suspended sentence and two years of probation.

• Brock Marcus Curtsinger pled guilty to simple burglary of a pharmacy. He was sentenced to five years at hard labor with the La. Department of Corrections. He was given credit for time served.

• Sidney Mallet pled guilty to illegal use of weapons and will serve five months in the parish jail with credit for time served.

• Patrick S. Davidson pled guilty to issuing worthless checks. He was sentenced to two years at hard labor with the La. Department of Corrections. When released, he will be on a two-year probation.

• Rodney Rice pled guilty to Aggravated Flight From an Officer and received a suspended sentence of one year at hard labor,

• James Segura IV entered a plea of No Contest to the amended charge of Simple Assault. A plea agreement was entered and he received a suspended six-months in the parish jail. He will be on 12 months supervised misdemeanor probation.

• Demond Peters pled guilty to attempted simple burglary and received a sentence of two years of hard labor with the Louisiana Department of Corrections. He also pled guilty to distribution of cocaine and was sentenced to seven years of hard labor, which five of those seven years were suspended.

•Curtis Breaux pled guilty to possession of cocaine and received a suspended five year sentence. He was placed on three years of probation.

• Joseph Wayne Breaux pled guilty to second degree battery and was sentenced to three years of hard labor which were all suspended. He will be on 30 years of supervised probation.

• Guy Foreman pled guilty to simple burglary and received a sentence of 10 years at hard labor, which all but one year of that sentence was suspended. He was placed on five-year probation.
